This photograph depicts the large number of derricks used in the dock area to load stone on the barges for shipment to Lake Erie ports such as Cleveland, Lorain, and Conneaut. The smoke in the center is from a Shays steam engine used to pull flatbed cars of stone. Note the two workmen on the center right hand side of the photo and the U. S. Flag on top of the upper right shed.
